Summer 2024

We have had a busy summer term with lots of fun and engaging learning opportunities. We learnt all about ‘people who help us’, and to support this topic we were lucky enough to have a visit from the police, paramedics, a vet and the fire brigade! The children listened and took part in activities with the professionals, learning all about their important jobs and responsibilities. The children even got to use the fire hose!

We have also been learning about sea creatures and the beach! The children have had the chance to experiment with salt painting, working as a team to make their own jellyfish.  We have also been taking part in lots of sensory activities focused on the beach, and objects we may find at the beach.

As well as learning about our focused topics, we plan in the moment alongside the children’s interests. A few of our children went camping, therefore we got our camping role-play equipment and the children enjoyed recreating their experiences, building a fire and ‘toasting marshmallows!’

The children have also been enjoying making ice creams out of sand, and to further this interest we got out our market stall and shopping till to create ‘Fledglings ice-cream parlour!’ The children loved buying and serving ice creams to each other.
