Coots December 2020
In phonics this term we have learnt all our phase two sounds. We are now beginning to learn our phase three sounds and tricky words by sight.
In maths this term we have been learning to count, read and write numbers to 10. We have also explored space, shape and measure activities. We have made patterns and looked at shapes in the local environment.
In writing this term we have been learning to write our names in cursive and we are beginning to segment and blend words we need.
We have enjoyed our Funnybones topic this term. We have made potions, learnt about our body and drew some maps.
In RE we have learnt about the creation and we have learnt about the Christmas story.

All the children in Coots have settled really well into school. Over the last few weeks, we have been spending time getting to know each other. Last week, the children started to learn phonics. They have learnt the sounds s,a,t,p,i and n. They are now beginning to segment and blend three letter words with these sounds e.g. sat, nap, pin. At school, we use cursive writing. We must all remember our whooshes in and out. In maths, the children have been practising their numbers to 10 and 20. They have been learning how to form them correctly too. We have also started our Funnybones topic.Â
