Class Novel: The Jamie Drake Equation
We are now deep into this wonderful Science-Fiction novel by Christopher Edge. The search for alien life has captured the children’s imagination. Stories from our fantastic authors coming soon!
Solar System Presentations
On 29/10/23, Grebes presented their research into the planets and other celestial bodies in our Solar System. The children showed their courage by standing up in front of the whole school and sharing what they have been learning in class. We are so proud of all of them! However, the majority of the students still refuse to accept Pluto’s downgrading to dwarf planet status in 2011, so we will have to do some further investigation into the meaning of ‘clearing the neighbourhood’ – one of the essential criteria for planet status. Grebes RE – What is the Trinity?
What better way to kick off this RE unit than by covering the playground in graffiti? Children explored the many names Christians have used for the three aspects of God (the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit).
God the Father: Creator, Holy, Almighty, Fortress, Rock, King
God the Son: Saviour, Human, Rabbi (Teacher), Prince of Peace, Shepherd, Prophet, God ‘in the flesh’
God the Holy Spirit: Wind, Fire, Breath, Dove, Water, Comforter
Salsa Band Final Performance
Our legendary Salsa band performed their final concert of the year today – and for Year 6s Annabel, Sadie, Ben and Toby – their last ever. As ever, the children confidently switched instruments and played an energetic set of songs that got us all set for the day. Thank you to Mr Weitz, musical director of the band. Looking ahead to September, are you interested in joining the band and learning a range of new instruments? New members are required!

Cookery – Venezuelan Chicha (Rice Drink)
As part of our learning about South America, we made the Venezuelan version of chicha, a sweet drink popular all over the continent. We taste-tested it and generally the sweet creaminess of the drink was a hit, but the spices (cinnamon and nutmeg) and especially the thick texture were highly controversial!
