Kingfishers Coding

Kingfishers have taken to coding as though they were naturals!!

They are able to create a program to make balloons float and change direction or disappear when they are clicked on! They confidently change the background screen and create different images on it to match their theme.

They are very excited and inspired by their progress!

I can’t to see what they achieve next week!

Progression in PE

The unit this half term in PE is gymnastics; Children beginning by learning about points and patches on their body which they can use to balance on. They also learn various jumps and then move on to learning to perform different types of rolls including: pencil, egg, sideways tuck, sideways shoulder, teddy bear and forward and backwards. The children then work in pairs and small groups to build a sequence of balances, jumps and rolls which are linked with ways of moving. They build their confidence in order to perform these routines in front of others.

The children have begun to notice the different muscles being used in gymnastics in comparison to other sports they have participated in PE. Grebes observed there are a lot more core muscles being used!

Watch this space for some photos and videos of their successful final routines!!

Viking Runes

Kingfishers have been learning about Viking Runes today. They have played games, made necklaces and written and solved some rune messages.
