World Mental Health Day

The Bitterns have had a wonderful day wearing yellow to support World Mental Health Day. We wore our most bright and sunny clothes to support such a brilliant cause.

Kingfishers Maths

We have been reading, writing and ordering 2 digit numbers. We are becoming more confident but we don’t always get it right!!Some of us have been setting our own challenges – it was pretty tricky building our own 100 square but we had a good strategy!!

Kingfishers Fossils

We have been finding out about what fossils are and how they are formed. We then had fun making our own examples of fossils. We made salt dough and then used dinosaurs to make impressions!!

Bitterns Geography

In geography we have been learning about the United Kingdom. We all boarded our class bus and traveled to London where we saw lots of landmarks and famous places. We enjoyed watching the New Year’s Eve fireworks and listening to the national anthem. We even created our own maps of London and built some of the landmarks out of Lego. This week we boarded the bus again and headed to Scotland and Wales. We learnt about welsh traditional food, clothing and dancing. When visiting Scotland we listened to the bagpipes and looked at the kilts. We were especially keen to spot the Loch Ness Monster.

In Bitterns Class we have started to learn about sculpture

In Bitterns Class we have started to learn about sculpture. This week we have been inspired by the work of Antony Gormley. We looked closely at his Field of clay figures and used clay to create our own sculptures in a similar style. For some of us this was our first experience using clay.
